Visiting Committees
The Guyana Prison Service comprised of Committees that consist of five members that is appointed by the Ministry. They Visiting Committee visits all Prison Locations once monthly by one or more members of the committee, and so far, as practicable all such visit shall be paid by not less than two members of the committee. During their visit they hear and investigate any application or complaint that any prisoner may desire to make, and if necessary report same with their opinions to the Director of Prison or the Minister.
