Request for Family Visit
Relative must make request to the Officer-in-Charge, of the location. In relation to New Amsterdam Prison and Mazaruni Prison the request must be made at the Director of Prisons. Persons visiting MUST walk with their Identification Card/ Passport.
Procedures for applying for Family Visit
Family visit can be requested by a Prisoner of a family member.
- · A Prisoner will make a request through the Officer-in-Charge of the respective locations.
- · The family member is then informed of the request and whether they agree.
- · Once the family agrees the Officer-in-Charge grants the visit, based on the conduct of the Prisoner.
- · Based on the status of the Prisoner, approval may be given from the Director of Prisons.
